Bushra Afrin is the Chief Thermal Officer of Arshat-Rock in North Dhaka, Bangladesh. She is a social welfare executive who has worked to improve worker safety and create more sustainable products in Bangladesh’s textile industry. Afrin was instrumental in setting up a task force to reduce heat on garment factory floors. It improved support for working mothers by making changes to factories. Such as adding special nutrition rooms and educating childcare professionals in daycare.

Afrin worked closely with local governments in her role as a policy advocacy consultant. Where they collaborated on policy change and the implementation of the Animal Welfare Act (2019). Before transitioning into policy advocacy. Afrin worked as a management executive where she monitored the impact and effectiveness of ongoing micro-finance initiatives and processes. She organizes the annual City Micro-Entrepreneurship Awards (CMA) with City Bank NA and Credit and Development Forum (CDF) to bring funding and global recognition to socially innovative micro-enterprises in Bangladesh.
